Don’t Let Darwin Make a Monkey Out of You

A child once asked, “Dad, where did we come from?” His father replied, “Son, we came from God.” The child went to his mother and asked her the same question, “Mum, where did we come from?” Mum answered, “Son, we came from monkeys.” The child ran back to his father and said, “Dad, you lied to me, mum said we came from monkeys!” His father replied, “No son, your mum wasn’t lying she was talking about her side of the family.”
That might be funny, but it’s no laughing matter to be mistaken about our origins.
As the parents told the boy, so we are told today.
What do you think?
Do you believe that billions of years ago the Big Bang occurred and this planet just happened to come into existence? Do you believe you are nothing more than a cosmic accident?
What would you think if someone told you that all the buildings in your town came together after a massive explosion a hundred years ago? You would likely think that person was nuts. But isn’t that what we are expected to believe happened to our world billions of years ago?
Ask yourself, when did an explosion ever bring about order? Explosions always destroy.
Everything around us points to a designer — a painting, a car, a shirt, a dress, a computer, a phone. They all have a designer. Someone created them.
Someone once said that to believe in the Big Bang is tantamount to believing that an encyclopaedia came into existence after an explosion in a printing works!
How improbable would that be? But that’s how ludicrous it is. All our lives we have been taught this to be incontestable truth, so we believe it. Through years of indoctrination in education, the arts and television we have been conditioned to accept this is how our world began.
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.”
Today through multiplied propagation many believe in evolution.
People say evolution is science. But the truth is it requires faith to believe in evolution too. After all, were you there to witness this Big Bang?
Evolution is like a religion with its priests of science ardently preaching their doctrine of how the world began. But it is not so much a doctrine, but rather a theory. For it is aptly named the theory of evolution isn’t it.
Theory, not Fact
Evolution is a theory, not a fact.
The word theory comes from the Greek word theōria meaning ‘contemplation, speculation’, ‘the forming of a theory without firm evidence’.
By calling evolution a theory scientists admit they are merely speculating. They confess there is no firm evidence for the Big Bang.
So then, one must exercise faith in order to believe in evolution.
But doesn’t it require more faith to believe we came from nothing than to believe we came from something?
Afterall everything around us came from something. Doesn’t it stand to reason that something as spectacular as our planet and the people living on it came from something too?
Richard Dawkins, the famous atheist and author of The God Delusion, said when asked, “You might find a signature of some sort of designer and that designer could well be a higher intelligence from elsewhere in the universe.”
I wonder if Dawkins is not being entirely honest with himself or you? How can he be so sure this intelligent designer isn’t God?
Dawkins is not against the idea of intelligent design, just certain types of designers, such as God.
A Leap of Faith
Do you honestly believe humans climbed out of a primordial goo, evolved and became you?
Isn’t this a great leap of faith?
The truth is humans are higher than the animal kingdom. People have morals inside, animals do not.
Have you ever asked yourself why you have a moral code? You know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. You don’t have to be told it is wrong to commit adultery, to murder, rape, steal or lie. You instinctively know it. You know it is wrong to be unkind to others, you feel guilty about it. But why is it wrong?
Science can answer many questions about life but it is clueless when it comes to explaining why people have morals inside. You can’t cut a person open and find their morals. Morals are not physical. Morals are spiritual.
Why would it matter what we do in this life if we come from nothing and return to nothing? Why should we have laws? Why should people be punished for wrongdoing if ultimately there are no consequences for our actions?
Monkeys do not have morals, you do. You are different. You are unique.
The Bible tells us why humans have morals. The Bible says we were made in the image of God. We have morals inside because God has morals inside. We are like God! We have been beautifully crafted after our own Creator.
Because of this God loves you with an everlasting love. That’s why God cares so deeply about you and where you are going after this life.
The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standards. We have to admit it don’t we. That much is true. Unless we say we’ve never done anything wrong!
The Bible also says that it is appointed to us to die once and then to face the judgement. After this life we will face God and answer for the things we have done wrong in this life. If we are found guilty on that day we will be served the just punishment for our sin.
Some say, if God is a God of love then why would he punish us?
But they fail to realise that God is also just on account of His sinless nature. God is a righteous judge. Just as an earthly judge metes out punishment for lawbreakers, so too a heavenly judge exists.
When an earthly judge does not send down a criminal we are appalled. We say, that was not a good judge. It is never a question of love. In fact we celebrate when a criminal goes down. We know that’s what they deserve. If an earthly judge convicts a lawbreaker, how much more should a just God send down someone for wrongdoing after this life?
Yes, God is a God of love, and because of that, the Bible says that God proved his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. God has made a way through Jesus Christ. We can be rescued from the penalty of the punishment we deserve by repenting of our sin and putting our faith in Jesus Christ who paid the debt of our wrongdoing by dying for us on a cross to save us. The Bible says if we call upon the name of the Lord we will be saved from going down.
Will you do this today? Darwin with his ideology is dead and gone. Darwin cannot save you, Jesus can. Don’t let Darwin make a monkey out of you. You are far too beautiful for that. You were made in the image of God and that’s the truth!
If this message makes sense to you, it is time to put your faith in Christ. It is not about going to church or observing religious rules. It is about having a personal relationship with God. Simply begin by asking God to forgive you for your sin. Tell him you want to turn your back on the past and follow Christ into the future. This is the first step on your journey with God. The next step is to begin reading the Bible and to find people who believe the same.
