Mission to Italy 19 Sept - 8 Oct, 2026

Leaving Malta on 19 September, 2026 we and fly to Naples, Italy, where we will take a ship to the island of Ischia.

We are so looking forward to seeing the beloved believers who gave their lives to the Lord Jesus during the years we were sent by the Holy Spirit to live on the island, from 2018–2022, and to witness the precious fledgling church that was birthed there.

Sharing the gospel in Italy wasn’t easy back then. It was fraught with daily spiritual battles, some that tempted us to give up. One particular attack was so great, it almost drove us back to the U.K.

However, the Holy Spirit quickly stepped in, revealing the demonic strategy to remove us from the island.

Glory to God, He gave us strength to stand our ground. Then through a series of gospel campaigns, accompanied by daily one-to-one sharing of the gospel, we saw people gloriously born again by the Spirit of God. Not religion, but relationship!

Like Malta, Italy is trapped in the bondage of religion. They ‘venerate’, as they say, but in reality, worship Mary, praying to her and the ‘saints’.

Being conditioned by the Catholic Church not to read or study the Bible for themselves, or to regard it as the ultimate authority, they are unaware that these practices and many other Catholic teachings are heretical and antichrist.

I would often walk past a Catholic Church in the street where we lived. One sunny morning I looked through its large doorway that was usually open all day.

Fixed to a cross that dominates a vast white wall behind the alter, a giant idol of Christ hangs in defiance to God’s word. Immediately the Holy Spirit spoke to me, “Those who worship Me dead on a cross get dead religion.”

The Bible warns that idolatry leads to spiritual blindness, and that is why it is a struggle to proclaim the gospel in Italy.

While the Catholic Church denies it engages in idolatry, estimates suggest the Catholic Church, in Italy alone, possesses at least one million objects.

In a bid to cover up this brazen transgression, they heap up further sin by deceiving their parishioners into believing all is well. The Catholic catechism omits the second commandment listed, in Exodus 20, in the Bible that expressly instructs God’s people not to make carved images;

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth…”

No matter how much the Catholic Church denies this flagrant disregard of God’s law, or the internet gaslights on this controversy, Orsola is a witness and can personally confirm the omission.

Having been raised in the heart of the Catholic Church, Italy, Orsola along with every other Catholic she knows learned to recite the Ten Commandments without the reference to forbidding the making of carved images. Indeed, we have asked many Catholics to repeat the Ten Commandments and the second commandment is always conspicuously absent!

Please believe with us for hearts to be open to the true gospel of Jesus Christ, as we proclaim the gospel throughout Ischia.

On 4th October we will take a ship to Naples where we will preach the gospel there and finally travel onto Rome to proclaim the good news before returning to the U.K on 8 October.

We couldn’t help but think about Paul the apostles journey to Malta, the peoples subsequent conversion from paganism to Christianity, and his onward journey from Malta to Rome, Italy.

What a privilege for God’s people to walk in the footsteps of those who have valiantly gone before us. Through their stories of God’s divine intervention, supernatural boldness in hardship and tribulation, rescue in times of trouble and provision when in need, we are encouraged through the Holy Spirit to step out in faith and see God accomplish the same.

Let’s never believe the early disciples were somehow more holy, spiritual or closer to God than us. No way. Let’s go and complete the book of Acts in our time.
