What the Quran Says About Jesus

Every
Muslim
desires
to
follow
the
straight
path
(as-sirat
al-mustaqim).
But
what
if
God
has
already
revealed
the
way
to
Him?
The
Quran
speaks
of
Jesus
(Isa
al-Masih)
in
ways
that
are
different
from
any
other
prophet.
Let’s
look
at
what
the
Quran
says
about
Him.

Jesus:
A
Word
from
God

The Quran gives Jesus an extraordinary title:

“O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a Word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary.” (Quran 3:45)

• Jesus is not just a prophet—He is “a Word from God.”

• No other prophet, including Muhammad, is given this title.

• If Jesus is God’s Word, what does that mean for us?

Jesus:
Born
of
a
Virgin,
Sinless,
and
Unique

• Born of a Virgin: “She said, ‘How can I have a son, when no man has touched me?’
(The angel) said, ‘Thus it will be; Allah creates what He wills.’” (Quran 19:20-21)

• Sinless: The angel tells Mary: “I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you (news
of) a pure boy.” (Quran 19:19)

• Performs Miracles: “I (Jesus) heal the blind and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by
 Allah’s permission.” (Quran 3:49)

Jesus is the only prophet in the Quran described as sinless and one who brings the dead to life. What does this tell us about Him?

Jesus:
A
Sign
for
the
Day
of
Judgement

The Quran says Jesus is a sign of the Final Hour:

“And indeed, he [Jesus] will be a sign for the Hour (of Judgement). So have no doubt about it and follow Me. This is a straight path.” (Quran 43:61)

If Jesus is the sign of the Last Day, shouldn’t we take His words seriously?

Jesus:
The
Ransom
and
the
Sacrifice

Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, remembering how Allah provided a ransom for Ibrahim’s son. The Quran says:

“And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.” (Quran 37:107)

• Why did Allah provide a substitute sacrifice?

• Could this point to a greater sacrifice that God has given for all people?

The Quran teaches that on the Day of Judgement, no soul can bear the burden of another (Quran 6:164). Yet, Jesus is uniquely called a “mercy” for mankind (Quran 19:21). Could He be the sacrifice Allah provided for us?

Salvation:
Not
Through
Good
Deeds
Alone

Many people believe that on Judgement Day, their good deeds must outweigh their bad ones to enter paradise. But the Quran says:

“If Allah were to punish men for their wrongdoing, He would not leave on the earth a single living creature.” (Quran 16:61)

If no one is perfect, how can anyone be saved?

True faith is about more than just good deeds—it is about surrendering to Allah’s will. Could Jesus, the sinless Messiah, be the way Allah has provided for us?

Jesus:
Taken
to
Heaven,
Returning
Again

Unlike any other prophet, the Quran says that Jesus was taken to Allah and will return:

“Rather, Allah raised him to Himself.” (Quran 4:158)

“...At that time Allah will send the Messiah, son of Mary. He will descend at the white minaret in the east of Damascus...” (Book 1, Hadith 293)

• Jesus is alive with Allah now.

• He will return before the Day of Judgement.

Why is Jesus the only prophet who is still alive with Allah? Could it be because He has a special role in Allah’s plan?

What
Does
This
Mean
for
You?

• Jesus is the Word of God (Quran 3:45).

• Jesus is sinless (Quran 19:19).

• Jesus has power over death (Quran 3:49).

• Jesus was taken to Allah and will return (Quran 4:158, 43:61).

If Jesus is so unique, shouldn’t we seek to know Him? The Quran says:

“This is the straight path.” (Quran 43:61)

Could it be that following Jesus is the way to truly know God?

A
Prayer
for
Guidance

If you desire to know the straight path, pray sincerely:

“O God, You are the source of all truth. Guide me to the straight path and reveal Your will to me. Give me a revelation of who Jesus truly is and what His role is in Your plan. Amen.”
